ABOUT US
Over the years, I built an extensive woodworking and metal shop in my home allowing me to do almost anything in wood from building furniture to carving duck decoys. For more than 10 years, I was a jeweler, designing, making and repairing sterling and gold jewelry.
Other interests and pursuits include cooking. Along with my wife, I spend hours in our kitchen creating delicacies for us and others to enjoy.
Throughout all my work and hobby projects, the one thing that has
always been present is the need for good tools, specifically knives
and chisels that are sharp and stay sharp. I am always impressed
with a new cutting tool that is super sharp and does exactly what I
want it to do with little effort. But, unfortunately, that sharp
tool did not stay sharp and sharpening was needed. This is where my
quest began.
I tried numerous sharpening gadgets and devices for my knives and
chisels. All had limited success. All seemed to do some sort of
sharpening but either not as good as it was originally or of short
duration. I often had to re-sharpen and grind the blade down even
more.
My quest led me to start testing, documenting and investigating the
sharpening process. My goal was to determine the best method for
sharpening knives and other cutting instruments that would result in
superior performance and yield maximum life.
With testing, measuring and experimenting, I succeeded in developing
sharpening techniques and procedures that allow me to create
superior edges on kitchen knives as well as woodworking tools.
Each time I sharpened a knife or chisel for a neighbor or friend, I
always got the same type of comment, “This is awesome, its better
than when I got it, you should start a business”.
Having reached my original goal of creating superior cutting edges,
I have taken my friends suggestions and started Nice and Sharp. My
new goal is to have Nice and Sharp success based on your
satisfaction and trust.
