It is not uncommon for the edge to chip. We can re-cut the edge and create a new edge above the chip.

Major Edge Repair

To determine if you have a major edge repair, hold the knife edge on a flat surface as if you are cutting something. Make sure the portion of the blade that has the broken edge is directly on the flat surface. Now slide a dime toward the chip in an attempt to hide the chip. If you can still see any part of the chip it is a major chip repair
