KNIFE SHARPENING CLASS
Three levels of classes are available to meet the needs of
students who want to learn how to sharpen for personal use and for those that
want to sharpen professionally.
Changes in the standard curriculum can be easily adjusted to meet any special
needs.
PERSONAL CLASS
This class is geared to anyone who wants to learn how to
create and maintain a sharp edge on kitchen and hunting knives without spending
a lot of money on equipment. The course covers blade care and maintenance,
sharpening theory, sharpening stone selection and use as well as paper girt
wheel sharpening. Students will learn how to sharpen both flat edge and serrated
knives. This is a hands-on class. There will be time to sharpen 4 or 5 personal
knives.
Class is about 3 hours and includes a 30 page course book detailing all that is
taught.

BASIC CLASS
If you want to sharpen knives, scissors, chisels and
woodworking plane irons, this is the class for you. Whether this is for your
personal use or you are starting a professional sharpener business, this course
will give you the understanding needed to select the correct tools and knowledge
needed to sharpen these items correctly.
In addition to what is taught in the Personal class, this class goes into more
detail about sharpness and how it is affected by angle, and blade thickness. The
class goes over equipment preparation and maintenance. It includes hands-on use
of the EdgePro guide rod system for sharpening both knives and scissors and
hands-on sharpening of sharpening chisels and planes using various bench stones
and guides.
Students will have time to sharpen 4 or 5 personal knives as well as a few
chisels, plane irons and a pair or two of scissors.
Class is about 4 hours and includes a 60 page course book detailing all that is
covered

ADVANCED CLASS
This class is for the advanced or professional sharpener. If you are going to
start a sharpening business or already have, this is the course for you. This
class includes all that is taught in both the Personal and Basic classes. In
addition, students learn tip and edge repair as well as bolster adjustment.
Sharpening techniques for knives, scissors and woodworking tools are taught
using the Tormek wet grinder. Scissor sharpening is taught using Twice-As-Sharp
scissors sharpening system.
Class is about 7 hours and includes a 75 page course book detailing all that is
covered
